After incurring a horrendous defeat in the second ODI in Barbados, India had an exceptional start to the decider of the three-match series against West Indies in Tarouba, Trinidad. After being put into bat first, the Men in Blue were off to a flier, courtesy of a tremendous counterattacking partnership between their openers, Ishan Kishan and Shubman Gill.

West Indies captain Shai Hope opted to bowl, as he urged his bowlers to utilise the moisture on offer with the new ball. However, his decision backfired on the hosts badly, with Kishan and Gill toying with the Windies seamers.

The flamboyant batters came out with all guns blazing from the word go and left no stone unturned in putting the bad balls outside the fence with utter disdain.

While Kishan rode his luck for a sensational 43-ball fifty, Gill held his composure, completing a glorious half-century in only 51 deliveries. Their incredible effort with the bat helped India breach the 100-run mark in the blink of an eye.

As of writing, Kishan and Gill have set the foundation for a mammoth score, batting on 64* and 53*, respectively, with India occupying the driving seat, placed at 128 for no loss in 18.1 overs.
