The romance between cricket and Indian cinema has been a timeless affair that reflects the pulse and passion of a nation where cricket is more than just a sport.

Ghoomer's teaser bowled fans over with inspiring tale of cricket and determination

From the inspiring tale of a deaf-mute boy in 'Iqbal' to the vivid story of India's historic 1983 World Cup victory in '83', films on cricket have not merely entertained but inspired generations. Now, another inspiring cricket related film is set to unfold with the upcoming release 'Ghoomer'.

Featuring Abhishek Bachchan and Saiyami Kher, Ghoomer tells the extraordinary tale of an amputee female cricketer, daring to dream and aiming for glory.

The first look motion poster of ‘Ghoomer’ was unveiled on Monday, offering a glimpse into the life of Anina, a paraplegic sportsperson portrayed by Saiyami Kher.

Abhishek Bachchan plays her pensive and passionate coach, guiding her innovative journey back to the cricket field despite the loss of her right arm.

Written and directed by R Balki, ‘Ghoomer’ is more than a story of triumph against odds. It reflects the spirit of innovation, perseverance, and the magic that often defies logic.

The teaser's powerful voiceover sums up this sentiment: “Logically ek haath se koi desh ke liye khel sakta hai? No. Lekin ye life na logic ka khel nahi hai. Magic ka Khel hai.” (Logically, can anyone play for the country with one hand? No. But life isn't a game of logic. It's a game of magic.)

The film also stars Shabana Azmi and Angad Bedi in pivotal roles, and is inspired by special athletes and Hungarian shooter Karoly Takacs.

‘Ghoomer’ is set to premiere at the Indian Film Festival of Melbourne 2023 on August 12 and will release in cinemas on August 18.

With its unique storyline and a noteworthy cast, ‘Ghoomer’ promises to be a promising addition to the legacy of cricket-based cinema in India.
