The much-awaited final between India and New Zealand is underway at the Dubai International Stadium in UAE. The Kiwis won the toss and opted to bat first. The decision turned out to be a masterstroke as Rachin Ravindra and Will Young stitched a fifty-run stand for the first wicket to leave India in panic.
Shami Gives A Lifeline To Rachin Ravindra Early On In The Final
The openers got off to a flying start and whacked Mohammed Shami and Hardik Pandya across the park. However, India did get its share of chances to provide the breakthrough. Meanwhile, Shami too hogged the internet after he dropped a catch off his own bowling.
Not only did Shami drop the catch, but he also injured his left hand. It was relatively a simpler chance than how usually the bowler needs to flex their reflexes to take a wicket off their own bowling. Soon after getting hit on the hand, Shami called for a physio and was later seen with a bandaged hand. Watch the dropped catch here.
Shami's Poor Show On The Field
Shami, who returned to the Indian set-up recently, is having a tough time in the field as he also dropped catches in the previous matches. Notably, Shami dropped two catches off his own bowling in the semi-finals against Australia.
Further, in the ongoing match, Shami has gone for runs and is struggling to take a wicket. At the time of writing this article, New Zealand are 67/2 as Varun Chakaravarthy and Kuldeep Yadav have taken the two scalps.
