A huge moment unfolded in the ongoing Champions Trophy final between India and New Zealand, as Shreyas Iyer dropped the catch of Rachin Ravindra when the batter was looking sublime in the middle. The incident was a major highlight in the powerplay when India desperately needed someone to dismiss the in-form batter.

Shreyas Iyer's Drop Catch Frustrates Chakravarthy

The incident occurred during the eighth over of New Zealand's innings after Mitchell Santner won the toss and opted to bat first. Rachin Ravindra came out with a positive mindset as he smashed the Indian bowlers all around the park.

His quick-fire knock not only frustrated the Rohit Sharma-led team but also ensured a fiery start for the BlackCaps. As India needed someone to step up and get the first breakthrough, Rohit brought his ace spinner Varun Chakravarthy into the attack.

The in-form bowler instantly created a golden opportunity, inducing a mishit off Ravindra's bat. However, Shreyas Iyer committed a blunder, dropping the catch near the boundary.

As Ravindra miscued the lofted shot, Iyer covered a great distance to grab it. However, he failed in his mission, with the ball popping out of his hands in the final moment.

Will Young Departs, Ravindra Joined By Williamson

Chakravarthy eventually drew the first blood for India, dismissing Will Young with a deceptive delivery. After his departure, former captain Kane Williamson joined Rachin Ravindra in the middle. As of writing, New Zealand were 69 for one, with Williamson and Ravindra batting on 9* and 37*, respectively.
