The much-awaited India-Australia clash of Champions Trophy 2025 is finally underway and the match started with Travis Head getting dropped in the very first over. It was not an easy catch though and was just a half chance, but had Shami taken it would have been a big blow to Australia.
Mohammed Shami Spoils A Half Chance On 1st Ball
It was the first legal ball of the match, and Mohammed Shami bowled a length delivery, angling into middle and leg. Travis Head tried to work it towards the leg side, but got a leading edge to the right of the bowler. Shami stretched his hand to take the catch and got the finger-tip as well, but could not grab it, much to the disappointment of Indian cricket fans around the world.
The Indian captain Rohit Sharma was also caught on camera as he first jumped in joy and then looked up in heaven wih disappointment. Shami though got the wicket of other opener Cooper Connolly, but Travis Head is a dangerous batter and if he gets going, it would be pretty hard to stop.
After initially struggling, Travis Head hit a four and a six to bring some momentum back in the Australian innings and with plenty of superstars to follow, they would be looking to post something close to 300. The pitch will be difficult to bat in the second half and Indian fans would be hoping that their spinners can get some wickets in the middle overs and stop Aussies in Dubai.
