In a high-stake semi-final encounter between India U-19 and Sri Lanka U-19 at Sharjah Cricket Stadium, Chetan Sharma delivered a sensational spell that completely derailed Sri Lanka’s batting line-up. His outstanding effort in the 4th over of the Sri Lankan innings has turned the tide in India’s favor, putting the young Lankan side in a precarious position.
Earlier in the match, Sri Lanka won the toss and opted to bat first, a decision that quickly backfired as Chetan Sharma made his presence felt in the early stages of the match. In the 4th over, Chetan Sharma delivered an absolute gem of a delivery to the Sri Lankan opener Dulnith Sigera.
Chetan Sharma Breathes Fire To Dismantle Sri Lanka
Chetan Sharma started the over with two dot balls, the third ball of the over was a masterstroke an in-swinging delivery that caught Sigera completely off-guard. The ball pitched on a perfect line and length, coming in towards Sigera's body. He had misjudged the movement, failed to get his bat or any part of his body in the way, and the ball crashed onto the middle stump, leaving the Sri Lankan opener bowled out.
The very next ball, Chetan Sharma struck again. Vimath Dinsara had no answer to a well-placed delivery that hit him on the pads, and trapped him on his lbw for a golden duck.
At the time of writing, the Sri Lankan innings has continued to unravel, with India’s bowlers dominating the proceedings, Sri Lanka are all out at 173 in just 46.2 overs.
