[Watch] Hero From Gabba Test Takes Flight After Cleaning Up Kieron Pollard In CPL 2024
Shamar Joseph scalped Pollard's Wicket (X)
In the 19th match of the ongoing CPL 2024, the Trinbago Knight Riders faced the Guyana Amazon Warriors at the Queens Park Oval, in Port of Spain, Trinidad. Earlier in the match, the Knight Riders captain Kieron Pollard won the toss and opted to bowl first.
The Warriors had a tough start as openers Tim Robinson and Kevin Sinclair did not provide a solid start to the team. By the end of the 12th over, they had already lost 7 wickets at 76 runs but then came in Romario Shephard and Dwaine Pretorius to rescue the team from a difficult position.
Shephard and Pretorius stitched 72 runs in 48 balls and built a well-constructed partnership to help the Warriors reach a fighting total of 148/7 at the end of their 20 overs.
Shamar Joseph Deceives Pollard
Chasing the target, the Knight Riders lost the early wicket of opener Sunil Narine, although that did not affect much as Shaqkere Parris and Keacy Carty tried to stabilise the innings in the middle. Knight Riders' middle-order failed and the wickets fell like a pack of cards.
Kieron Pollard also failed to perform and made just 8 runs in 9 balls, in the 12th over of the second innings, Shamar Joseph deceived Pollard with a peach delivery.
He bowled over the wicket with a length ball outside off, Pollard goes down the track and drives it to long off. The ball goes through the gap between the bat and pad and knocks over the off-pole.
But then came the big name with a big show and completely changed the course of the game and single-handedly took the game away from the Warriors. Andre Russell played a quickfire cameo and made 36 runs off just 15 deliveries.
At the end, Tim David also showcased his class and smashed two massive sixes, that guided TKR to a thrilling five-wicket victory. With this victory, TKR has moved to the second position in the points table with four wins in five matches.
