The Trinbago Knight Riders are taking on the Guyana Amazon Warriors in the 19th match of the CPL 2024. This match is being played at the Queen's Park Oval in Trinidad.

The Knight Riders skipper, Kieron Pollard, won the toss of this match. He put the Warriors into bat and got them in trouble with early wickets in the innings.

Romario Shepherd saves the day for the Warriors

The Warriors were struggling at 76 for seven at the end of the 12 overs, and it looked like they would fail to post a reasonable total on the board. However, at this stage, Romario Shepherd and Dwaine Pretorius got together to do a bit of repair work. The duo stitched an unbeaten partnership of 72 runs, taking the team's total to a fighting 148/7 in 20 overs.

Romario Shepherd was particularly severe against the bowlers, playing a sparkling knock of 51 runs from 24 deliveries. Waqar Salamkheil was the star with the ball for the Knights, picking up two wickets for 19 runs in his four overs.

Though it was a moderate total, the Knights hoped for a solid start from their openers. Shaqkere Parris and Sunil Narine. The veteran all-rounder, Sunil Narine, started off in his trademark style, slamming a six and boundary in the first over. Narine would finally get going with the bat in this tournament and guide his team to a convincing victory.

Narine gets fooled by Moeen Ali

However, Narine's stay was cut short in the second over by Moeen Ali. The miserable run of the southpaw in CPL 2024 continued as Ali left him wanting proper technique against spinners. Ali bowled a good length delivery around the middle stump line on the first delivery of the second over. Sunil Narine got inside the line of the ball and tried to push it, but the ball turned a tad and beat the outside edge of Narine's bat, leaving him baffled.

Notably, Sunil Narine has now just 63 runs in the tournament from six innings. The Knights might have to rethink their strategy of opening with Narine, as he is clearly struggling with form.
