The Trinbago Knight Riders faced the Guyana Amazon Warriors in the 19th match of the CPL 2024. This match was played at the Trinbago Knight Riders' home ground, Queens Park Oval, in Port of Spain, Trinidad.

Shepherd-Pretorius took the Warriors to a fighting total

Winning the toss, the Knight Riders chose to put the Warriors to bat on a challenging wicket. The Warriors, despite a tough start, losing wickets in quick succession, showed remarkable resilience. By the end of the 12th over, they had fought their way to 76/7, refusing to be counted out.

It was at this stage Romario Shepherd and Dwaine Pretorius decided to turn the tides for their team. Shepherd played a sparkling knock of 51* runs from 24 deliveries and was aided by the 21* off 25 deliveries by Dwaine Pretorius as they stitched an unbeaten 72-run partnership. This partnership took the Warriors to a fighting total of 148/7 at the end of their 20 overs.

Russell turned the game on its head in a span of 6 deliveries

In the chase, the Knight Riders lost Sunil Narine early. Shaqkere Parris and Keacy Carty tried stabilising the Knights' innings, but a mini-collapse left the team in a precarious situation. They lost three wickets for 11 runs and struggled to reach the target. The wicket of Nicholas Pooran in the 15th over brought more troubles to TKR.

Andre Russell joined Tim Davis at this stage, and the duo displayed their strength to the fullest in the next few overs. Andre Russell was particularly severe on the bowlers, scoring 36 runs off just 15 deliveries. During this knock, he slammed three brutal sixes against the left-arm wrist spinner, Waqar Salamkheil and followed it up with one more against the medium pacer, Keemo Paul. In a span of six deliveries, Russell scored 24 runs and changed the momentum of the game.

With just 12 runs needed off the final over, the tension was palpable. Tim David, in a display of sheer determination, smashed two massive sixes, guiding TKR to a thrilling five-wicket victory. The match was a rollercoaster of emotions, keeping the audience on the edge of their seats until the very end.
