The much-anticipated return of Test cricket will witness India playing against Bangladesh in a two-match Test series. The first match will start on September 19, 2024, at the iconic MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai.

This series marks India’s return to red-ball cricket after a six-month hiatus, with their last Test encounter being the victorious 4-1 series against England in March.

Both India and Bangladesh enter the series with renewed confidence, as they set the stage for a thrilling battle. India, ranked at the top of the ICC World Test Championship (WTC) standings, will be eager to maintain their dominance, while Bangladesh, fresh off a historic whitewash of Pakistan, is poised to provide a stern challenge.

While India head into the series as the clear favourite, Bangladesh’s recent success cannot be underestimated. This series marks a significant opportunity for both sides, India to further strengthen their hold on the top of the WTC standings and Bangladesh to solidify their position as a rising force in Test cricket.

Talking about the Indian squad, Virat Kohli, who missed the previous series due to personal reasons, returns to the squad. Kohli’s experience and prowess in the longer format remain vital for India’s success.

The bowling attack will also be bolstered with the return of pace spearhead Jasprit Bumrah. KL Rahul also returns after a significant layoff due to a back injury and another significant comeback for team India is the return of Rishabh Pant.
