England's swashbuckling batter, Harry Brook continues to make an unignorable case for his inclusion in the upcoming World Cup 2023 with a second consecutive match-winning performance in the T20 series against New Zealand on Friday.

ENG vs NZ: Harry Brook hit soaring six to compelete his fifty

In a sublime show of power-hitting, Brook raced to his half-century with a massive six at Old Trafford in Manchester. The young batter's 67 runs from just 36 balls along with Jonny Bairstow’s blistering 86 not out from 60 deliveries propelled England to a commanding total of 198-4.

In response, New Zealand folded for a paltry 103, handing England a dominating 95-run victory and a 2-0 series lead.

Brook’s match-winning fifty which included a total of five sixes and five boundaries was more than just runs on the scoreboard, it was a statement of intent. His 131-run third-wicket stand with Bairstow effectively took the game away from the Kiwis as the duo sent the New Zealand bowlers on a leather hunt across the park.

Fresh off a stellar run in The Hundred 2023, Brook's consecutive T20 performances are seen by many as a direct rebuttal to his exclusion from England’s preliminary 15-man World Cup squad.

Despite the selectors' preference for more versatile middle-order batsmen, Brook's recent exploits are causing many to question if this decision should be reevaluated before the final squad submission on September 28.

Brook’s brilliance wasn’t just limited to his batting. He also showcased his fielding abilities by taking crucial catches to dismiss Glenn Phillips and Mark Chapman, further denting New Zealand's hopes of a comeback.

The two teams will meet again for the third T20 at Edgbaston on Sunday, followed by a four-match ODI series, all leading up to the much-anticipated World Cup in India.
