There was a lot of hype surrounding South African batting prodigy, Dewald Brevis, who made his international debut in the first T20I against Australia. However, Brevis had an anticlimactic debut as he was dismissed for just five runs.

On Friday at Durban's Kingsmead, the emerging talent faced another challenging outing in the second T20I against Australia as he was dismissed for a golden duck.

SA vs AUS: Nathan Ellis dismissed Dewald Brevis for a golden duck

It all happened in the sixth over when Aussie pacer, Nathan Ellis bowled a full-length ball that shaped away from the batter at the last moment. Brevis misjudged the swing as he was lured into a front-foot drive.

The ball kissed his bat as wicketkeeper Jos Inglis completed an impressive diving catch which resulted in South Africa being reduced to 46/4 inside seven overs.

South Africa's innings concluded at 164-8 in 20 overs, with captain Aiden Markram top-scoring with a steady 49 off 38 deliveries. Temba Bavuma and Tristan Stubbs also contributed with scores of 35 and 27 respectively.

Australia's response was clinical. Their bowlers, Sean Abbott and Nathan Ellis dismantled the South African batting lineup, securing three wickets each. Jason Behrendorff added two to his tally.

The Australian batting unit was nothing short of spectacular. Captain Mitchell Marsh thundered a dynamic 79 from 39 balls, while Matthew Short played a blazing knock of 66 off a mere 30 deliveries. Their electrifying partnership of 100 runs for the second wicket was pivotal.

With this emphatic win, Australia has taken a 2-0 lead in the three-match series, having previously clinched the opening game by a mammoth 111 runs.

The series finale beckons on Sunday, September 3, at Kingsmead in Durban. While Australia will be aiming for a whitewash, South Africa will look to salvage honour with a face-saving win.
