The Southern Brave and the Northern Superchargers locked horns in the eighth match of The Hundred 2024 at the Headingley in Leeds.

After winning the toss and batting, the Southern Brave posted 146/8 in their quota of 100 balls.  It was a team effort in the batting by the Brave with Kieron Pollard top scoring for them with a 22 balls 37.

The Northern Superchargers started off steadily but soon lost their Aussie opener Matt Short. After this, Nicholas Pooran joined Graham Clark in the middle and the duo stitched a 49-run partnership that tilted that game in the team's favour.

Brook and Pooran ensure the win for the Superchargers

The partnership between Clark and Pooran was broken by Chris Jordan when he dismissed Graham Clark in the 10th set. After the departure of the opener, the Superchargers skipper, Harry Brook came into the crease. He stitched a 50-run partnership with Nicholas Pooran, who was looking dangerous in the middle. The West Indian keeper batter played a wide range of aggressive shots and batted the Southern Braves out of the match.

Pooran was dismissed in the 15th set by Akeal Hosein. But by then the match was for the Superchargers to lose. However, Harry Brook stayed there till the end and ensured a seven wicket win for his team with 15 balls remaining in the game. Notably, this was the first match for Brook in the tournament as he joined the franchise after his time with the national team in the Test series vs West Indies.
