Melbourne Stars speedster Haris Rauf castled Hobart Hurricanes tailender Patrick Dooley as the latter was aiming to attempt an ambitious lap during the death overs of the innings. Rauf’s tight spell eventually restricted the Hurricanes to just 155 after they were put into bat first by Stars skipper Glenn Maxwell.

Haris Rauf canes Hurricanes with three wickets

Melbourne Stars’ Pakistan-import Haris Rauf picked up three Hobart Hurricanes wickets during their recent faceoff at the Bellerive Oval in match number 17 of the ongoing BBL 2023-24 season.

After accounting for the dismissal of a rampaging Nikhil Chaudhary against the run of play, Rauf roughed up Patrick Dooley’s stumps with sheer pace in the final over of his spell.

Haris Rauf also trapped Hurricanes all-rounder Chris Jordan later in the same over to finish with three wickets at the expense of just 24 runs from his three overs of the innings.

The 30-year-old Pakistani paceman had headlined Melbourne Stars’ clinical four-wicket win against Sydney Sixers last week, by picking up 3-38 from his four overs. So far in the ongoing BBL 2023-24 season, the cricketer has claimed six scalps from just four games for Stars under Glenn Maxwell’s leadership.

Melbourne Stars are currently placed at number seven on the BBL 2023-24 points table, having secured just a win and three defeats in their uneven campaign so far in the tournament.
