There were a lot of responsibilities on Rohit Sharma’s shoulders on Day 3 of the first Test between India and South Africa, taking place at SuperSport Park, Centurion. However, to shatter ardent Indian fans’ hopes, the veteran opener fell for an eight-ball duck, although it was Kagiso Rabada’s supreme excellency who should get all the credit.
After South Africa’s fighting 408 without Temba Bavuma, India, who posted 245 in the first innings, had a tough job in front of them in order to escape a potential defeat. To make that happen, Rohit had to step up, but Rabada did not allow him to get going with snorter after snorter before outfoxing him.
It was a full delivery by Rabada, which pitched at around the middle stump. Rohit tried to play forward, only to be beaten by extreme pace and movement. The ball went on to break the stumps, and Rohit had no option but to return to the pavilion.
