Swashbuckling English batter Phil Salt had a memorable outing in Kolkata Knight Riders' ongoing IPL 2024 clash against Lucknow Super Giants, as he smashed a blistering fifty.
Opening the batting alongside Sunil Narine, Salt clobbered the LSG bowlers to all parts of the ground on his way to a belligerent half century.
The Englishman took a particular liking for LSG's premier bowling allrounder Arshad Khan, whom he struck for two boundaries to complete his fifty.
The incident occurred during the tenth over of KKR's innings when LSG were searching for a breakthrough to make a comeback into the game.
However, after Shreyas Iyer started the over with a boundary, Salt took on the ex-MI player and struck two consecutive fours to complete his half century.
The first ball, pitched around the stump line, was inside-edged and raced to the fine leg boundary, while the fourth ball was driven through the square gloriously for four.
Salt, who joined KKR as a replacement player for Jason Roy, has had a fabulous time with the bat, slamming 160 runs across five outings.
Regarding the game, LSG posted a respectable 161-run total, riding on Nichols Pooran's exploits with the bat.
Although KKR lost Narine early, valiant efforts from Salt and Shreyas Iyer have put them on the driving seat.
As of writing, the hosts were 127 for two in 13 overs, with Salt and Iyer unbeaten in the middle.
