Mumbai Indian (MI) captain Hardik Pandya failed to lead from the front as he handed over his crucial wicket on a platter to Varun Chakravarthy in a challenging chase against Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR).

A highly anticipated Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 season clash between Mumbai and Kolkata was massively hampered by rain as the game resumed after two hours of delay and was also reduced to 16-over per side.

However, KKR posted a competitive total of 157 runs batting first, and MI, once again, looked clueless in the chase.

Ex-captain Rohit Sharma holed out to Narine as Varun Chakravarthy's mystery spin troubled him all day long. And unsurprisingly, present captain Hardik Pandya followed in Rohit's footsteps to hand his priceless wicket to KKR on a platter.

Shreyas Iyer trusted Varun Chakravarthy for the 4th over, and the spinner delivered by scalping the important wicket of the opposition skipper.

Chakravarthy lured Hardik with an outside off short delivery, and the ball skidded off the surface as Pandya mistimed his slog sweep badly.

The mistimed shot triggered a leading edge, which landed safely with Vaibhav Arora at deep square leg.

Hardik Pandya walked back with just 2 runs in 4 deliveries as his poor run continues to perpetuate this IPL 2024 season.

Since the infamous captaincy fiasco, Hardik has massively struggled to keep up with his form with the bat as well as with the ball. 

While MI has already been eliminated from the playoff race, Pandya's form concerns Indian fans who await his participation in the impending T20 World Cup 2024.
