Promising Indian middle-order batter Deepak Hooda had a poor outing with the bat as he was dismissed cheaply in Lucknow Super Giants' tenth group-stage IPL 2024 match against Mumbai Indians at the Ekana Stadium in Lucknow. Coming at number four, Hooda managed a run-a-ball eighteen before Hardik Pandya dismissed him.

The incident occurred during the fourteenth over of LSG's innings when the hosts were cruising towards the target, placed at 99 for two, thanks to Marcus Stoinis' impactful knock.

However, MI skipper Hardik Pandya's decision to bring himself back into the attack paid off, with the veteran all-rounder getting rid of Hooda.

Coming over the wicket, Pandya bowled a length delivery in the off stump channel as Hooda lost his shape while trying to go for a biggie straight down the ground. As a result, he miscued the lofted shot only to get caught by Jasprit Bumrah at mid off.

However, despite losing Hooda, the Super Giants are in a commanding position, being the favourites to win the contest.

Earlier, MI managed to post a modest 144-run total despite losing wickets at regular intervals. While Nehal Wadhera played a valiant knock, Tim David emerged as their saviour in the death overs, scoring a quick-fire 18-ball 35*.

As of writing, LSG were on the verge of a resounding win, placed at 122 for four in 16 overs, with Nicholas Pooran and Ashton Turner unbeaten in the middle.
