One such incident, a rather hilarious as well as innovative to its core, occurred in an Indian local tournament in late-2023, where a wicketkeeper completed a catch while lying face-down on the ground.

Keeper takes an unconventional catch in local cricket

In one of the matches from a local cricket tournament in India back in late-November, a wicketkeeper stretched to his right in a bid to take an outside edge off a batter. While the keeper could not hold on the catch by his gloves, the ball popped out of his hands and landed on his back.

The unidentified keeper, using his street smarts, was aware enough to track the ball and prevented it from falling by covering each side of his back with his hands. The hilarious incident even caught attention of popular X handles ‘That’s So Village’ and ‘Out of Context Cricket’.
