On Friday, the much-awaited Ashes series began in a fascinating manner, with arch-rivals England and Australia providing passionate fans with a gripping day of Test cricket. However, we have some bad news for cricket fanatics across the globe, as rain will likely play spoilsport on day two of the match.

As per footage shared by OneCricket's correspondent Mr Sandipan Banerjee, dark clouds can be seen hovering in the Edgbaston sky, with slight drizzle indicating the possibility of inclement weather interrupting the day's play.

In the above video, fans can be seen rushing towards the stadium amidst the fear of witnessing a rain-curtailed battle between two formidable outfits.

Regarding the game, England declared their first innings on 393 for eight after opting to bat first on a flat Edgbaston surface. While Zak Crawley's glorious half-century set the stage on fire, a scintillating ton from Joe Root and a run-a-ball 78 from Jonny Bairstow propelled the hosts to a formidable score.

In response, Australia were off to a cautious start, managing 14 runs in four overs without any loss at stumps on day 1. So, if the game begins on time, the task for David Warner and Usman Khawaja will be to see through the initial few overs and give their star-studded middle order a solid platform to cash in.
