Melbourne Stars and Adelaide Strikers are currently engaged in a thrilling game of the ongoing Big Bash League 2024-25 at the Adelaide Oval in Adelaide. During the match, Glenn Maxwell made his mark as he broke the partnership between Jake Weatherald and D'Arcy Short with the help of his teammate Hilton Cartwright.

Weatherald, who looked in good form, failed to get going as he was forced to walk back for just 11 runs after slamming just one boundary. In the 6th over, Maxwell bowled a back-of-a-length delivery on the stumps, and Weatherald pulled it high into the sunshine towards the deep mid-wicket. Cartwright settled under it, taking a reverse cup catch under the sun to complete the dismissal. A brilliantly taken catch by Hilton Cartwright near the ropes as Glen Maxwell breaks the second wicket stand.

STR vs STA BBL 14: What is happening?

Adelaide Strikers posted 165/6 against Melbourne Stars at Adelaide Oval. After Matt Short's early dismissal, D'Arcy Short took charge, scoring 60 off 42 balls with eight fours and two sixes, forming key partnerships with Jake Weatherald and Ollie Pope.

At 83/2 after 10 overs, the Strikers' momentum stalled following the drinks break. Peter Siddle broke the Short-Pope stand, dismissing Pope and then removing Short with a stunning catch. Alex Ross briefly sparked with a 35 off 26 balls but was dismissed by Adam Milne in the penultimate over, leaving Adelaide with a below-par total.
