Kusal Mendis is one of the most talented batters in Sri Lankan cricket, but he has not been in great touch in LPL 2024. However, as it is said, form is temporary and class is permanent, Kusal Mendis stepped up in the all-important Qualifier 2 and smashed a fantastic century to put his team Jaffna Kings in control against Kandy Falcons.

The right-handed opener scored 105 off just 54 balls and stayed unbeaten as Jaffna scored 187 in their allotted 20 overs. Kusal Mendis started off with a boundary against Mathews in the very first over. He followed it up with boundaries in the next two overs and continued to bat in the top gear despite some wickets falling at the other end. He hit five sixes and 12 fours in his knock.

He got to his century on the fourth delivery of the 19th over and got to the landmark with a delicate late cut that was hit with precision in the gap through the backward point region for a boundary.

The knock was quite a statement from the talented batter and emotions were quite evident in his celebration after the century as the man jumped in joy, roared and kissed his bat as the whole stadium applauded the genius of the man in the all-important Qualifier 2 of LPL 2024.
