Dinesh Karthik has been in good form in IPL 2024 and RCB would have hoped for their wicketkeeper batter to fire in the all-important Eliminator as well. However, those hopes were almost broken on the very first ball when Avesh Khan got the positive LBW call against Karthik from the on-field.

Karthik though took the DRS and the replays though inconclusive, umpire decided to give it in the favour of the batting team and the decision was overturned. 

It was the third delivery of the 15th over and Avesh Khan bowled a lovely length delivery that nipped in sharply into Dinesh Karthik. He tried to flick it, but seemed to have missed it and the umpire gave it out. 

DK was not confident of taking DRS, but still went for him after consultation with his partner and the doubt was created when the spike was spotted with bat close to both ball and pad.

The third umpire thought that the ball has hit the bat first but more replays indicated that the spike was probably because bat hit the pad and the decision has created quite a controversy.

Dinesh Karthik though could not make the most of the lifeline he got, and could muster only 11 off 13 balls with Avesh Khan getting his revenge in the 19th over.
