The 13th match of IPL 2025 between Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) and Punjab Kings (PBKS) at Ekana Stadium on April 1 has been full of intense moments. First, Yuzvendra Chahal gave a fiery send-off to Nicholas Pooran in the first innings. Now, in the second innings, young LSG spinner Digvesh Singh Rathi has made headlines with his aggressive celebration after dismissing Priyansh Arya.
Digvesh Rathi’s Intense Send-Off
While chasing 172 runs set by LSG, Punjab Kings’ openers Prabhsimran Singh and Priyansh Arya were off to a steady start. However, in the third over, Rathi struck to dismiss Arya for just 8 runs, breaking Punjab’s opening stand.
The wicket came off a well-bowled googly; a short and quick delivery outside off-stump. Arya attempted a pull shot but mistimed it, getting a top edge. The ball went high in the air towards extra cover, where Shardul Thakur made an excellent running catch from mid-on, covering nearly 20-25 yards.
What caught everyone’s attention was Rathi’s aggressive celebration. After taking the wicket, he walked up to Arya and made a dramatic gesture, as if signing something on his palm.
Inspired by Kesrick Williams & Virat Kohli?
Rathi’s celebration reminded fans of West Indies bowler Kesrick Williams, who was known for his signature “notebook celebration.” Commentator Sunil Gavaskar even compared it to Virat Kohli, recalling how Kohli used a similar celebration after smashing boundaries.
At the time of writing, LSG are at 90-1 in 8 overs, comfortably chasing the target.
