Lucknow Super Giants faced off against Punjab Kings in the 13th match of IPL 2025 at the Ekana Stadium. PBKS captain Shreyas Iyer won the toss and opted to bowl first against Rishabh Pant’s side.
However, Punjab Kings made a notable change in their playing XI from the previous match. New Zealand pacer Lockie Ferguson was included in place of Azmatullah Omarzai.
Why No Azmatullah Omarzai In Today's Match?
Punjab Kings made this change due to a key tactical adjustment. In their last match, PBKS went with three swing bowlers, with Arshdeep Singh being the only specialist death bowler. Omarzai had a limited role, and the team management likely felt that bringing in Ferguson -who has express pace and experience; would have a greater impact in this game.
Notably, Ferguson have troubled the LSG star batter Nicholas Pooran, dismissing four times in the T20 format.
It’s worth noting that Lockie Ferguson has previously represented four IPL teams: Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR), Gujarat Titans (GT), Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB), and Rising Pune Supergiant (RPS).
