The 16th match of BBL 14 between Melbourne Renegades and Sydney Thunder was an absolute show for the fans as the match ended in a close-chase thriller. After the Renegades won the toss and chose to bowl, Sydney Thunder captain David Warner threw a punch in the gut for the former as he delivered an unbeatable knock on a pitch that is generally tough to bat on. The Renegades struggled early in their chase but ultimately provided a challenging contest for the Thunder, who secured a hard-fought victory.

As the match displayed an intense battle, here’s the timeline of how Renegades vs Thunder panned out at Sydney Showground Stadium:

Renegades vs Thunder Highlights: David Warner's Unbeatable Knock Powers Thunder's Innings

David Warner let his bat do the talking in the Renegades vs Thunder clash. The skipper, who was not impressive with the bat in earlier matches finally answered why he is one of the best in the game. While the Thunder fell from the very start, Warner's 86 off 57 kept hopes alive. Starting off slow, he came across his 50 in 40 balls but shifted the gear from there.

Warner played a late quickfire which boosted the Thunder's total for a challenging clash against the Renegades. Notably, the unsold IPL star bagged 2 sixes and a staggering 10 boundaries to his name to build his inning.

Renegades vs Thunder Highlights: Renegades' Top Order Collapse Wobbles Chase

Coming in to chase a total of 157 runs, which is considered a decent total on Sydney Showground Stadium, the Renegades stumbled miserably. Josh Brown went back soon after the powerplay and Tim Seifert followed in the 8th over. Jacob Bethell and a promising Jake Fraser-McGurk (26) also were sent back in the 11th over leaving the Renegades reeling at 68-4.

Thunder's Tom Andrews, Daniel Sams, Chris Green, and Wes Agar were instrumental in scalping the top-order batters which punched a hole in the strong batting lineup of the Will Sutherland-led team.

Renegades vs Thunder Highlights: Wes Agar Magic Disrupts Renegades To Seal Comfortable Win

While Wes Agar helped in scalping the top order, the pacer proved to be crucial in sealing the fate of the Renegades as well. He pocketed crucial wickets for the team as he took out Seifert at the very beginning and bagged Mackenzie Harvey along with Will Sutherland who otherwise would have proved to be table-turners for their side if remained unbeatable.

While Laurie Evans tried to put in some late fight to keep the chase alive, Agar made sure he walked back to the pavilion ahead of the crucial last overs. Agar himself had figures of 4-32 in the match while Tom Andrews (1-34) defended the 22 runs in the last over to bag Thunder's third win of the tournament by 8 runs.
