Having announced his retirement from One Day Internationals and Test cricket, David Warner is now dedicating himself entirely to T20 cricket, eagerly seeking multiple franchise cricket engagements. Following his successful stint in the three-match Test series against Pakistan, David Warner has joined Sydney Thunder for the current season of the Big Bash League, adding firepower to the team.

Even after stepping back from other formats, the batting maverick showcased his peak form with a spectacular six against Sean Abbott, kickstarting Sydney Thunder's run chase against the Sydney Sixers on a high note at Sydney Cricket Ground.

The right-arm pacer, bowling his first over of the day, got off to a poor start by delivering a short length ball outside off. Warner, dropping to one knee, elegantly slogged it over square leg for a beautiful six.

Earlier, Warner made a grand arrival to the SCG via a chopper. Coming directly from his brother's wedding, the helicopter touched down near the iconic 'Thanks Dave' logo painted during his farewell Test match against Shan Masood's Pakistan.

As for the match, Sydney Thunder won the toss and opted to bowl first. The Sixers, batting first, put 151 runs on the board for the loss of seven wickets in the stipulated 20 overs. Tanveer Sangha, and Nathan McAndrew picked up two wickets each for Thunder.

In response, the Thunder are on the verge of an embarrassing defeat, placed at 118 for eight as of writing.
