David Warner took an absolute beauty of a catch to dismiss Kusal Mendis on Monday (October 16) during Australia's World Cup 2023 match against Sri Lanka at Ekana Cricket Stadium, Lucknow. However, the veteran Aussie, who is known for being a sharp fielder on the field, covered a lot of distance, and almost injured himself badly in the process.

It was a tossed-up delivery by Adam Zampa to Kusal Mendis, who went for a slog sweep. However, the Sri Lankan captain, who was in impeccable form, did not get the timing right. As a result, he could only manage a big top edge.

Warner, who was placed near the boundary line, covered a lot of ground before gobbling it with both hands. In the process, the Australian tumbled for a while, and thus, a patch of grass came off the ground.

Thankfully, Warner seemed okay after a few minutes. In fact, he was seen helping the ground staff bring on covers when play stopped due to rain.

At the time of interruption, Sri Lanka reached 178/4 in 32.1 overs, with Dhananjaya de Silva and Charith Asalanka in middle, on 7* and 4* respectively.
