After all the criticism that Pat Cummins has received in the last two games, the Aussie skipper has responded in some style against Sri Lanka in the ongoing World Cup match.

After winning the toss, Sri Lanka justified the decision with a scintillating assault on the Australian bowlers. The two openers, Pathum Nissanka and Kusal Perera, laid a strong foundation for the middle-order batters.

However, just when everything was going according to the plan, Cummins came for his second spell and struck with the wicket of Pathum Nissanka. Despite his wicket, Sri Lanka continued to dominate the Australian attack, as Perera looked like a man on a mission.

Desperate for a breakthrough, Cummins raised his hands once again and bowled one of the balls of the tournaments to castle Perera's stumps.

He bowled a length delivery outside the off and it swung back in sharply. Perera doesn't move his feet too much, and it costed him the wicket,. The ball sneaked past his blade in a flash and went onto hit the stumps.

Cummins was ecstatic after the wicket and it showed the importance of knocking the dangerous Perera, who was all set to reach his hundred.

Talking about the match, the downfall of Perera brought the wicket of Kusal Mendis as well. The stand-in skipper missed his slog sweep as Warner grabbed a stunner at deep mid wicket.
