David Warner launched his farewell Test series against Pakistan at the Perth Stadium with a scorching century within the second session of Day 1. The innings marked the 26th hundred IN his Test profile and his first triple-digit score in the format since his ‘Boxing Day’ double ton against South Africa a year ago.

David Warner canes Pakistan with scintillating ton

Charismatic Australian batsman David Warner roared back into form with a scintillating century against Pakistan on Day 1 of the opening Test at the Perth Stadium. The cricketer reached the landmark figure off just the 125th delivery of his innings after upper-cutting Pakistan’s Test debutant Aamer Jamal in the 43rd over of the day for a boundary down to third man region.

By the time he completed his century, Warner had already blasted 14 alluring boundaries and a thumping six after overcoming Shaheen Afridi’s new-ball threat earlier in the day.

Warner completed his half-century in his 41 balls and formed a colossal 126-run stand with opening partner Usman Khawaja after skipper Pat Cummins had won the toss and opted to bat first.

The series serves as the final set of fixtures for Warner’s glittering Test career, considering he had preemptively announced his exit from the format prior to the 2023 Ashes.

The 37-year-old is playing the 110th Test of his career and has already tallied over 8,500 runs since debuting in 2011. Apart from hitting 26 centuries, the elegant southpaw has 36 additional scores of 50 or more in his stockpile.

Currently, Warner averages a little over 45 in red-ball games, thus standing out as one of the greats of modern-day cricket.
