Dasun Shanaka, the Sri Lankan skipper is known for his power-hitting with the bat but has always been a useful bowler, though a reluctant one. However, in an important Super Fours game against Bangladesh, the Sri Lankan skipper decided to lead from the front and produced a brilliant performance with the ball to put all the pressure on the Bangladesh side chasing 258 to win.

Bangladesh started off on a cautious note but Shanaka brought himself into the attack in just the fourth over of the game and eventually got the first breakthrough for his side in the 12th over. He then got rid of Mohammad Naim as well, another Bangladeshi opener in the 14th over and brought his side well and truly back in the game. Eventually, Bangladesh were reduced to 83-4 but Rahim and Towhid Hridoy build a solid partnership and it came down to the Sri Lankan captain again to break the dangerous fifth wicket stand. He got the wicket of Mushfiqur Rahim and again brought his team ahead in the game.

Talking about the wicket of Mehidy Hasan Miraz, it was a short delivery on off. Mehidy Hasan Miraz tried to pull it but could not get the middle of his blade, and ended up hitting it off the upper part of his blade. The ball went in the air towards mid-wicket where Dushan Hemantha, the substitute fielder took it safely and Bangladesh were handed a big blow.

Towhid Hridoy has kept Bangladesh in the game though and they need 78 off last 54 balls with five wickets in hand. Towhid Hridoy is batting on 67 off 86 balls while Shamim Hossain is on 5 off 8 balls.
