Kiwi pacer Lockie Ferguson shares a throwback story from the SemiFinal of 2019 Cricket World Cup. The tie between India and New Zealand came to a heartbreaking end when MS got run out, which turned out to be his last appearance for India.

Speaking to ESPNcricinfo in a chat, Ferguson shares how much fear opponents have when they see MS Dhoni in the crease during an intense chase. Former Indian captain has got the job done multiple times, which made more dangerous even when the onus was on him. In the penultimate over, MS started off with a huge six over point. But Lockie had different plan to stop him that day. He shares

“I know how strong he’s with the helicopter off his pads, so I thought he was letting deliveries go to let me bowl towards him. In the next over (49th), he was biding his time a little bit, and he hit that amazing shot just over the top of the point. That was a big boundary, and he managed to get it just over, so that forced me to go closer to him and get it up under his ribs."

But it wasn't just Lockie's effort that fetched NZ that wicket. The rocket throw from Guptill ended the dreams for millions of Indian fans. Ferguson believes, Guppy (Martin Guptill) didn't have a great tournament, but those on the field moments defines the matches. On the other hand, MS considered as a fast runner in between the wickets fell short by the barest of the margin.

As the game got over mid afternoon on 10th July, NZ had a huge celebration post that. The win over India didn't sink in to them yet back then. The rain hit match got dragged from 9th of July forcing a play on the next date.

Lockie heaped praises for Dhoni. Defining him as a clutch player, he added:

"You can say all the adjectives and superlatives you want. He turns up during the big moments, so when you see the back of him, it gives you some comfort."

Coming this year, India will lock horns against New Zealand again in Dharamshala. Indian team will look to turn the table up this time.
