Taskin Ahmed without doubt is the x-factor for Pakistan with his raw pace and quality skills. He has been picking wickets regularly for Bangladesh in recent times and has rattled many opponents, especially with the new ball. In the Super 4s game against Sri Lanka in Asia Cup 2023, he produced another quality bowling performance and took three wickets for his side.

He took important wickets of Charith Asalanka, Sadeera Samarawickrama and Maheesh Theekshana. He took two of those wickets in the final over, one of them was the wicket of Theekshana off a deadly bouncer. It rattled Theekshana and hit him on the glove, giving an injury scare to Sri Lanka's premier spinner.

Talking about the bouncer, it was a well-directed one angling into the body of Theekshana. It was too pacy for Theekshana and he somehow tried to evade it. However, the ball hit his glove and looped up in the air to the wicketkeeper Mushfiqur Rahim who took an easy catch.

Sri Lanka eventually got to 257 in their 50 overs and it was a competitive total on the board, that has good help for both pacers and spinners.
