[Watch] Cummins' Plan Works as Moeen Ali Perishes To The Short Ball, Again

England all-rounded Moeen Ali once again flattered to deceive as he fell into Australia's short-pitch ploy on the 2nd morning of the ongoing Leeds' Test against Australia.

Moeen has always been a suspect against the short ball, and over the course of the last decade, fast bowlers around the world have peppered him consistently.

The off-spinner met with the same treatment from Pat Cummins & co during his 46-ball stay at the crease.

While he did play a few good-looking shots, he never looked comfortable against the short ball. And it all came to a head during the 40th over of the innings, when he couldn't resist the temptation of throwing his hands at it.

He barely survived on the 2nd delivery of the 40th over when a top-edge from an attempted pull shot dropped in no-man's land.

However, Ali did not learn from his mistake, and two balls later, he took the bait, and ended up skying it high in the air, which Steven Smith pouched it safely at backward square leg.

The nature of Ali's dismissal just summed up the kind of morning session England endured. Starting the day at 3/68, the home side lost the best batsman of their team in the form of Joe Root very early after the Yorkshire cricketer edged a good length delivery from Cummins straight to David Warner in the slip-cordon.

Jonny Bairstow followed suit after he edged a wide, fullish delivery from Mitch Starc to the cordon.

It went from bad to worse for England at the cusp of Lunch as Chris Woakes nicked off an attempted pull shot off Starc to leave the hosts tottering at 167/7.
