Brief Scores: Scotland 277/9 in 50 overs [Brandon McMullen 106 (110), Richie Berrington 64 (84); Bas de Leede 5/52 (10)] Lost to Netherlands 278/6 in 42.5 overs [Bas de Leede 123* (91), Vikramjit Singh 40 (49); Michael Leask 2/42 (8)]

A stunning counter-attacking hundred from all-rounder Bas de Leede has helped the Netherlands beat Scotland in their final Super-6 game to earn the ticket to India for the 2023 World Cup.

Having been set a total of 278, the Dutch needed to overhaul it inside 44 overs to overhaul Scotland's net run-rate, and De Leede's stunning assault ensured that they were able to scale it inside the 43rd over itself.

Chasing 278, the Netherlands openers, especially Vikramjit Singh (40 off 49) came out all guns blazing to erase 65 runs from the target inside 13 overs.

However, Michael Leask's dismissal of Max O'Dowd triggered a mini-collapse, which saw the Netherlands slip to 94/3 in the 20th over and 108/4 in the 24th.

De Leede and skipper Scott Edwards tried to ressurect the ship with a 45-run-stand, before the latter was sent packing by Mark Watt in the 31st over.

This meant that the Dutch needed another 115 runs in just over 13 overs to earn the World Cup ticket.

De Leede got to his half-century (in 59 deliveries) in the 34th over, and as soon as he breached the milestone, the all-rounder switched on beast mode, flaying everyone that came against him to all corner of the ground.

Over the course of the next 32 deliveries that he faced, De Leede went on to hammer 71 runs to race his way to an unbeaten 91-ball 123* and guide his side to a historic victory.

Earlier, Scotland rode on yet another brilliant century from Brandon McMullen (106 off 110) to post 277/9 in 50 overs.

That Scotland were only able to post 277 despite a brilliant knock from McMullen was again because of Netherlands' all-rounder De Leede, who claimed 5/52 in 10 overs with his medium pace bowling.

As it turns out, the Netherlands will now be traveling to India for the much-awaited World Cup 2023, which will feature the top 10 teams in the world.
