As former Indian captain MS Dhoni turns 42, his ardent fans are in a frenzy, sharing nostalgic videos and creating birthday posts on social media. Since midnight, Twitter has been inundated with birthday wishes, and every photo and video featuring the cricketing maestro is racking up traction galore.

Rohit Sharma's birthday wish for MS Dhoni from 2019 goes viral again

We at One Cricket, present to you a video featuring Rohit Sharma's birthday wish for Dhoni that took the internet by storm four years ago. This remarkable clip is from Rohit's press conference during the 2019 World Cup, following India's victory over Sri Lanka, securing their position at the top of the points table.

During the presser, Rohit Sharma was asked if he had any words for Dhoni on his 38th birthday. Responding with a touch of humour, the opening batter left everyone in splits, saying, "Birthday mein kya bola jaata hai? Happy birthday?" (What do you say on someone's birthday? Happy birthday, right?)

Rohit further revealed the team's plans, stating, "We have our travel day tomorrow, and we don't know if we are going to Manchester or Birmingham. Accordingly, we will probably cut the cake during the bus drive. We will send you the photos."

Speaking about the Sri Lanka game played on Dhoni's birthday, the former Indian captain had an exceptional performance, being involved in four dismissals. This feat made him the second Indian wicketkeeper with the most dismissals in a World Cup match, following Nayan Mongia and Syed Kirmani, who jointly hold the record with five dismissals.

Additionally, Dhoni and Ravindra Jadeja made history together, achieving their 29th dismissal as a wicketkeeper-bowler duo, most for India in ODI history.

India's dominant display throughout the Round Robin stage of the World Cup propelled them into the semi-finals as the table-toppers. However, their campaign ended in disappointment as they were defeated by New Zealand.

Despite scoring a fighting fifty, Dhoni's efforts fell short of securing victory for the team in what turned out to be his last ODI appearance for India. His run-out by Martin Guptill in the closing moments of the match left him visibly emotional as he departed the field in tears.
