[WATCH] Woakes Knocks Over Labuschagne With An Unplayable Delivery

Comeback man Chris Woakes was right on the money on a lively Headingley pitch on the opening morning of the third Ashes Test as he got the ball to talk prodigiously. The seamer was eventually rewarded with the dismissal of Australian number three Marnus Labuschagne (21 off 48) to give England their third wicket of the morning.

It all happened during the third delivery of the 20th over when the right-arm swing bowler got one to move away from the corridor of uncertainty to induce Labuschagne into a poke. Labuschagne had no chance but to play at it, and he ended up giving catching practice to Joe Root at first slip and the local lad pouched it safely.

Watch the dismissal here:

The dismissal of Labuschagne was a fitting reward for Woakes, who bowled really well on the first morning to challenge the Aussie order both in and around off-stump.

Prior to the dismissal, Woakes had Labuschagne squared up to a length delivery that nipped back into the right-hander. But the ball ended up going to the boundary line through the gully region.

However, the party was soon over for the former number one ranked batter as Woakes followed it up by dishing out a near-perfect delivery, which Labuschagne had no chance but to play.

His dismissal was the third blow to the Aussies on the first morning of the third Test with David Warner and Usman Khawaja already back in the shed thanks to Stuart Broad and Mark Wood respectively.

Australia could have also lost Travis Head at the stroke of Lunch when Wood had the southpaw edging a fast bumper on the leg-stump, only for Jonny Bairstow to shell an easy opportunity.

However, Broad returned to the attack to induce an inside edge off Steve Smith's bat to leave the Aussies reeling at 91/4 at Lunch on Day 1.
