Sunrisers Hyderabad's premier all-rounder Shahbaz Ahmed showcased his spin bowling prowess this evening, as he got rid of Ruturaj Gaikwad in the ongoing IPL 2024 match against Chennai Super Kings at home. The left-arm spinner trapped Gaikwad with his guile and dismissed him when he was looking set for a big score.

The incident occurred in the eighth over of CSK's innings when Gaikwad and Ajinkya Rahane had already formed a scintillating stand for the second wicket. Sensing the danger, SRH captain Pat Cummins brought Shahbaz into the attack to counter the right-handed duo.

His decision proved to be a masterstroke, as the left-arm off spinner removed Gaikwad, who was well set on 26.

Coming over the wicket, Shahbaz tossed the ball up to outfox the CSK skipper, who went for an audacious lofted shot down the ground. However, he couldn't time it properly, hitting it straight to Abdul Samad, who completed a simple catch at long on.

After getting out, Gaikwad made a slow walk back to the dugout, as he couldn't convert his start into an impactful score.

As Gaikwad got out, swashbuckling southpaw Shivam Dube joined Rahane in the middle. Riding on the duo's exploits, the defending champions were 105 for two in 12 overs, with Dube and Rahane batting on 43* and 22*, respectively.
