The 2024 season of the Caribbean Premier League is turning out to be quite an entertaining tournament and in the 15th match, Barbados Royals are up against Trinbago Knight Riders at the Kensington Oval. Royals scored 156 while batting first and needed early wickets with the ball and Maheesh Theekshana, the Sri Lankan who also plays for CSK in IPL delivered with two big wickets.

Theekshana first got the better of dangerous Sunil Narine on the very first ball of the innings to rock Knight Riders early. He then came back strongly again on the first delivery of his second over and trapped Jason Roy infront to sink TKR further. It was a fullish delivery that came in sharply after pitching. Jason Roy tried to defend it, but just could not get any bat and once he got hit on his pad, the decision of LBW was straightforward.

In the same over though, Nicholas Pooran smashed a four and a six to make his intentions clear and signalled to the home team that the visitors were not going to tone down their approach. However, rain arrived soon after Pooran's six and the players had to walk off the field for a short break.

Rovman Powell Powers Barbados Royals To A Competitive Total

In the first half, Rovman Powell carried Barbados Royals to a competitive total with his 59 off 38 balls. He hit five sixes and two fours in his knock, and displayed great character and skills under pressure after Royals lost half of their side for just 71. Along with Powell, Quinton de Kock also played a handy knock of 39 at the top of the order while the other two South Africans, Miller and Maharaj contributed with 19 and 14 respectively. The Royals are unbeaten so far in CPL 2024, and it would be interesting to see how they tackle the might of TKR batting in the rest of the game.
