India A managed to bowl out Pakistan A for a modest 205 runs in just 48 overs in Match 12 of the ACC Men’s Emerging Teams Asia Cup 2023 at the renowned R. Premadasa Stadium in Colombo.

Rana's stunner and Hangargekar's 5/42 highlighted India A's charge against Pakistan A

Indian bowlers put in a stunning performance that left the Pakistan team scrambling. Their efforts were further complemented by their fielding counterparts, who pulled off some astounding catches, adding to Pakistan's struggles.

A particular catch that stole the limelight was that of Pakistan’s leading run-scorer, Qasim Akram as he was caught at short third man by Harshit Rana off Rajvardhan Hangargekar’s bowling

The Chennai Super Kings star, delivering his final spell towards the game's concluding phases, reproduced the magic of his initial over, where he had plummeted Pakistan to a troublesome 9/2.

Akram, who was instrumental in reviving Pakistan’s innings with a 53-run partnership with Mubasir Khan and a 43-run partnership with Mehran Mumtaz, fell victim to Hangargekar as he attempted to swipe one over the short third man only to be intercepted by Rana with utmost perfection. Displaying perfect timing, Rana jumped high as though buoyed by springs, pulling off an impressive one-handed catch.

This decisive wicket, taken in the 46th over, was a turning point as Pakistan was looking to accelerate the scoring. Post Akram's dismissal, Hangargekar continued his rampage, claiming the wickets of Mohammad Wasim Jr and Shahnawaz Dahani in the 48th over, bringing Pakistan's innings to an end.

Hangargekar concluded his splendid spell with remarkable figures of 5/42 off eight overs. India A, already having secured their spot in the semi-finals will back themselves to chase this moderate target with their powerful batting line-up. However, a solid start will be pivotal for them to hunt this score down and conclude the group stage on a high note.
