Fraser-McGurk run out [Source: @bbl/x.com]
Another match and another failure for Melbourne Renegades' Jake Fraser-McGurk in the ongoing Big Bash League. The star batter has been in horrendous form this season and was expected to perform better in the ongoing game Vs Hobart Hurricanes, however, a brain-fade moment with RCB star Jacob Bethell resulted in his run-out.
The team had already lost two quick wickets and the pair of Fraser-McGurk and Bethell were expected to bail the team out of the precarious situation, but a lapse of concentration resulted in the run-out.
In the 5th over, Bethell drove a fuller length ball towards covers and there was a miscommunication between the two players. Bethell ran towards the non strikers end and by the time Fraser-McGurk reached the opposite ends, Matthew Wade had dislodged the bails to inflict a run-out.
The batter looked furious and rightly so as the game provided him with the opportunity to score some big runs.
Fraser-McGurk omitted from Champions Trophy squad
IPL 2024 was the last good tournament which the Aussie superstar had. After which, his career went downwards as he failed to replicate the same performance at the international level. The batter was selected in the white-ball squads for Australia, but there was no substantial score to show.
As a result, when the Australian selectors announced the squad, they omitted the talented batter and went in with an experienced side.
The ongoing BBL has been nothing but a disaster for the player as 26 runs is the highest he has scored in the tournament and is yet to reach the fifty-run mark this season.
