Pakistan have great memories of the Champions Trophy as the Men in Green are the defending champions and will enter the 2025 edition as one of the favourites. They won the 2017 edition and defeated their arch-rivals, India in a one-sided contest. Over the years, the team has excelled in the event and quite a few stars have had their breakout moments.
The Pakistan side over the years has witnessed stellar performances in the tournament and have witnessed some brilliant match-winners. In this piece, we will talk about Pakistan's 3 biggest match-winners in the tournament's history.
3) Fakhar Zaman
The 2017 Champions Trophy finale will forever be remembered for the heroics of Fakhar Zaman against India. The Men in Blue entered the finale as the underdogs, but Fakhar's onslaught tilted the game in Pakistan's favour.
In a breath-taking assault, the southpaw smashed 114 off 106 balls and won the Champions Trophy for his nation almost single-handedly. Throughout the 2017 edition he was Pakistan's star player and scored 252 runs in the competition.
He is in Pakistan's preliminary squad for the 2025 edition and should be in the starting XI when the tournament kicks-off.
2) Mohammad Amir
The most underrated match-winners for Pakistan in this competition is Mohammad Amir. His spell in the finals against India in 2017 changed the fortunes as the left-armer dismissed Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli and Shikhar Dhawan to change the course of the match.
This wasn't the only time the seamer left his mark at the tournament. In the 2009 Champions Trophy, the star pacer scalped 6 wickets in 3 matches, and 2 of those came up against the Indian side at the lively SuperSport Park in Centurion.
1) Hasan Ali
The Player of the Tournament in the 2017 edition, Hasan Ali was another breakout star of that Pakistan batch. The wily pacer finished the competition with 13 wickets, and scalped 3 wickets in the finals against India to seal the deal for his side.
If not for his heroics in the tournament, Pakistan wouldn't have reached the finale, let alone winning it.
