In the ongoing match between England and Pakistan at the Multan Cricket Stadium, star all-rounder Chris Woakes is making noise for his outrageous effort at the boundary ropes on day 2 of the first Test.
On the 3rd ball of the 117th over, Agha Salman took the aerial route and tried to hit the ball for a six. Meanwhile, Chris Woakes was standing at the boundary ropes and he attempted to replicate Suryakumar Yadav's 2024 T20 World Cup final catch and nearly pulled it off.
Chris Woakes' Outrageous Effort Takes Internet By Storm
After catching the ball for the first time, Woakes threw it in the air and went behind the ropes. However, in his second attempt to throw the ball back into the playing area, his feet touched the ground, and he was also behind the ropes, which is why the umpires signalled it for a maximum.
Nonetheless, it was an outrageous effort that even sent the internet into a frenzy. Woakes became the talk of the town.
Woakes' Performance In The First Test
Talking about Woakes, he is playing his first Test match in Asian conditions since 2016 because of his poor record in away matches. The right-arm seamer has done well as he has taken a solitary wicket but that too of Babar Azam, who scored just 29 (72). Woakes bowled a beautiful 150 kmph+ delivery to trap Babar in front of the wicket as the ball swung back in to hit the pads of the former Pakistan skipper. He has registered the figures of 69/1 in his 23 overs.
At the time of writing this article, Pakistan are 453/7 after 126 overs with Agha Salman and Aamer Jamal batting together.
