England's captain Jos Buttler won the toss on Friday (June 21) against South Africa, and opted to bowl first in a crucial T20 World Cup 2024's Super 8 tie, to be played at Daren Sammy National Cricket Stadium, St Lucia.

While England opted to keep the same playing XI which thrashed the West Indies not too long ago, South Africa have brought back Ottneil Baartman in place of Tabraiz Shamsi.

Notably, England suffered their only defeat in the competition against Australia, while South Africa are unbeaten thus far. As both teams begin their Super 8 journey with a thumping victory, whoever win this could technically secure their place in the semi-finals.

ENG vs SA: Captains’ Thoughts

Jos Buttler

"We're gonna bowl first. Fresh wicket, looks a good pitch. We fancy another chase. Maybe a little bit of moisture early on. The ball will swing on the wind as well. We chased well the other day so gonna back that formula again. We are playing with the same team."

Aiden Markram

"We would have bowled first as well just on the basis that it is a morning start and there may be some moisture in the surface. You have to start well. We had a good flight and recovered yesterday and looking forward to this game."
