In the ongoing group stage match between England and Australia at the Kensington Oval Barbados, the defending champions asked the Kangaroos to bat first and their decision backfired.

Australian openers went all guns blazing and played at a rate of 10 runs per over. However, the 2021 winners also lost wickets at regular intervals. While the seamers went for runs, Jos Buttler opted for spin and Moeen Ali got the first breakthrough.

Meanwhile, all-rounder Liam Livingstone also struck for the Three Lions as he got rid of Mitchell Marsh with a peach of a delivery. On the 5th ball of the 14th over, Livingstone bowled a full delivery while Marsh tried to step out and missed the length. Meanwhile, Buttler missed the stumping in the first chance but got lucky and dislodged the bails in his second attempt.

After referring the decision with 3rd umpire, Marsh was given out. The Australian skipper scored 35 (25), which featured three two fours and two sixes.  After the end of the first innings, Australia posted 200/7 on the board, the highest total of this edition, surpassing USA's tally which they scored against Canada in the first game.
