In bizarre scenes at Kandy, Sri Lanka wicket-keeper Kusal Mendis did not choose to appeal after grabbing the ball despite a huge nick coming off Mushfiqur Rahim's bat in the second ball of the 31st over of the Bangladesh innings.

While every other fielder asked for a caught-behind, the umpire was unmoved as Mushfiqur got a reprieve in the ongoing Asia Cup fixture, happening between Sri Lanka and Bangladesh.

Sri Lanka had no review left to go upstairs but as the replays were shown afterwards, the ultraedge showed a huge spike, clearly stating that the umpire and Kusal were wrong in their judgement.


Mushfiqur fails to cash in

Despite being given a chance, Mushfiqur failed to make Sri Lanka pay as Matheesha Pathirana ended the right-hander's stay at the crease.

A short-ball did the trick for Sri Lanka as Mushfiqur could not execute the ramp shot and got caught at third-man.

Meanwhile, Bangladesh have been bundled for 164 runs after opting to bat first. Najmul Hossain Shanto top-scored for them with 89 runs.
