In the ongoing BBL encounter between Brisbane Heat and Perth Scorchers, a bizarre incident grabbed the limelight besides the fascinating contest between bat and ball. Despite the ball crashing into the stumps, the bails didn't come off, giving the Scorchers' batter Nick Hobson a lifeline.

The incident occurred in the final over of the Scorchers' innings when the Heat skipper Nathan McSweeney brought premier all-rounder Paul Walter into the attack. The Scorchers got off to a remarkable start, as Nick Hobson collected 16 runs off the first five deliveries with the help of two sixes and a boundary.

However, Walter, who offered width initially, eventually rectified his mistake, targeting the stumps on the final delivery. Hobson went for an audacious hoik only to drag the ball onto the stumps.

But, fortunately for the batter, the bails didn't come off, as the duo stole a valuable single to conclude the Scorchers innings. Thus, Hobson, who struck 48 runs off just 30 balls, remained unbeaten in the innings.

Earlier, after opting to bat first, the Scorchers had a disastrous start to their innings, losing their top four for 49 runs in 8.1 overs. However, valuable contributions from Laurie Evans, Cooper Connolly and Hobson powered them to a respectable total of 158 runs.

In response, the Heat are 20 for none as of writing, with Josh Brown and Jimmy Peirson batting on 7* and 8*, respectively.
