Indian fast bowler Prasidh Krishna, who recently debuted in the South African Test series, picked up a gruesome quadriceps injury during a Ranji Trophy game between Karnataka and Gujarat.

Prasidh Krishna returned to the Indians senior team’s scheme of things last month as he made his Test debut against South Africa in the recently concluded two-game series at Rainbow Nation.

The pacer was coming off from a long injury layoff due to a lumbar stress fracture. Thus, he had trouble adjusting to the international standards. Across the series, Krishna ended up being India’s most expensive bowler with an economy rate of 4.64 and 65 average.

Krishna Suffers Injury Blow Ahead Of ENG Series

Regardless, the fast bowler took it as a learning curve and returned to domestic cricket to continue with his grind. Krishna was named in the squad for a Ranji Trophy game between Karnataka and Gujarat. However, in his 15th over of the second spell, the bowler limped off the field with visible discomfort around his lower body.

Later, PTI reported that Prasidh Krishna had picked up a quadriceps injury, which takes nearly four to six weeks to heal, depending on the severity.

Subsequently, Krishna was left off the squad for the first two Test matches against England, which are scheduled to go on floors later this month.

India is set to host England in an extensive five-game Test series starting from January 25. Prasidh was expected to be a part of the squad but was deemed unavailable due to an unfortunate injury. Avesh Khan will replace him for the first two games.

That being said, Prasidh Krishna currently remains under the supervision of Karnataka medical care. However, since the pacer is a BCCI contracted player, he can receive care from India A support staff as well.

If the bowler manages to get fit in the next four weeks, he stands a real chance at getting back on the squad for the remaining three games.
