Babar Azam is one of Pakistan's finest batters and his performances have always played key role in Pakistan's success over the years. However, the right-hander has not been in great form in recent times, and it has resulted in some major setbacks for the former skipper with criticism from fans, media accompanying his axing during the Test series against England.

The right-hander batter is back for the series against South Africa, but could not deliver in the first match. He is now battling hard in the second innings and took up the responsibility to bat at the top of the order in the absence of Saim Ayub. Pakistan lost three early wickets, but Babar kept his cool and managed to stay unbeaten on 31 despite some close calls.

One of those was off the bowling of Wiaan Mulder. The right-arm seamer bowled a good-length delivery, outside off and Babar had a lazy push at it, which fortunately for him did not catch the outside edge of his blade. It was pretty close and Babar Azam too realised his mistake as he brought out a cheeky smile which showed that the batter himself was embarrassed by his shot.

Nevertheless, Babar survived and so did Mohammed Rizwan and the two now need to bat long on Day 3 to keep Pakistan in the game after a disappointing performance on Day 2.

Earlier, South Africa posted a massive score of 615 on the board with Ryan Rickelton scoring 259 and the duo of Bavuma and Verreynne backing it up with centuries. South Africa have already qualified for WTC final and would now like to notch up another win and whitewash Pakistan to gain more confidence going into that big final.
