In a scary incident, Pakistan's premier fast bowler Shaheen Afridi nearly dislocated his left thumb during the ongoing final One-Day International of the three-match series against Australia at Perth Stadium. The in-form speedster bowled a magnificent spell, jolting Australia with the crucial wicket of Aaron Hardie. However, the Pakistani fans had their hearts in their mouths when Shaheen was struck on his left thumb while collecting the ball at the non-striker's end of his own bowling.
The incident occurred during the 26th over of Australia's innings when Pakistan had already claimed the driving seat by scalping six massive wickets. In a bid to break the budding stand between Adam Zampa and Sean Abbott, Pakistan captain Mohammad Rizwan brought Shaheen into the attack.
After starting his over with two dot balls, Shaheen Afridi conceded a single to bowling all-rounder Sean Abbott. However, unfortunately, he was hit on the thumb of his bowling arm while collecting a rocket throw from the mid wicket.
Shaheen expressed agonising pain soon after receiving a blow to his thumb. As he struggled and knelt down on the ground, former captain Babar Azam came to his rescue, trying to get him some relief before the physio's arrival.
Eventually, Pakistan's team doctor arrived at the ground and tried to fix the issue. Fortunately for the visiting team, Shaheen resumed bowling and completed his over. However, it's worth mentioning that the blow looked nasty in real time and might've resulted in an injury.
